At JNUC 2024, several impactful updates were announced that will elevate the use of Apple devices in education, particularly focusing on iPads for Student and Teacher Learning and Collaboration in the classroom. These aim to streamline device management, improve student engagement.
Jamf Safe Internet Updates
There has been two good updates within Jamfs own Content Filtering solution Jamf Safe Internet. With Content Filtering and Proactive Security improvements our biggest one being Time-Based Policies. Which allows admins to apply controls like content filters to protect devices at home or school and ensure they are added at the specific time for where each devices are.
Jamf Teacher
Jamf Teacher has also seen updates that make classroom management more effective. Teachers now have greater control over their students' iPads. The Apple Education Partner Program apps such as Showbie and Kahoot have been added to Jamf Teacher listed directly within Jamf Teacher to be used in a lesson if schools utilize them.
Jamf School
Already being a powerful MDM solution that works for Education with enchaned Zero Touch options and Shared iPad options the biggest update is Managed Updates now being added to Jamf School so its easier to upgrade your Apple Device fleet. Also my personal favurite with Dark Mode being added on the Jamf School interface!
AI Assistant for IT Management
One of the standouts is AI Assistant within Jamf’s suite of tools. This AI feature is designed to help IT administrators manage large fleets of devices more efficiently by automating routine tasks, such as troubleshooting or managing device compliance. In an educational setting, where devices are constantly in use, the AI Assistant can proactively address common issues, reducing downtime and ensuring a smoother digital experience for both students and teachers.
Self Service+
Finally with the upgraded version and introduction off Self Service+, which empowers both students and teachers by giving them more control. Its designed to consolidatie various functionalities into the Self Service single application portal. Centralizing important notifications, including security alerts from Jamf Protect and centralized apps store for allowed apps.
